I currently have a Standard Horizon GX2100 that I recently purchased connected via NMEA 0183 to my Garmin 720 that I use for navigation. The DSC and AIS both interface with the plotter correctly and work great.
I would now like to connect my old VHF (SH GX1500) to either my Garmin 720 (used for navigation) or my Garmin 740s that I primarily use as a sounder.
My thoughts are to connect the GX1500 to the 740s and have two separate radios connected to two separate plotters. I think this will give me the most redundancy that I can get with my existing equipment. Is there any merit to having both radios interfaced to the 720?
