Just wanted some input or advice on fluke fishing off of Misquamicut. I remember going as a kid in my dads boat & we'd launch in the salt pond and go out through the Quonny breachway, find 50 FOW out in front of the carousel or "pink house" and load up on fluke.

Since it's been 15-20 years since I've fluke in RI waters, I didn't want to head out to barren grounds, or head all the way out there only to find out there are places in my own back yard I haven't fished correctly yet.

I have a 21' Striper w/ a 150 Johnson Oceanrunner that I keep in NIantic. I can make it to the Race, in about 25-30 min at a nice comfortable cruise, not hammering.

Any input or advice would be a tremendous help!!!!!!

the way you remember it is still a good plan to start. when not finding a bite, keep moving. don't ignore fisher islands south shore, it can be on your way and a shorter run

Thanks Mick -

Guess that makes my decision a little easier, having never done much navigating in Fishers Island sound, is there anything in particular to be aware of.

Yes I would definately get a local chart. You could also try Isabel beach on the south side of fishers.

I also fish the area. I also have a Striper. However the back side oof FI is pretty safe unless you really hug the shore. In close there a rock jetties but I'm talking in 15'. You can't go wromng with a chart if you already don't have one get one before you go out again. Black point area is also good and there are places around Two Tree Island and millstone for fluke as well. There are alot of spots between there and RI. Don't get me wrong RI is great fishing too but can be just as empty on days. Good luck.
