Is there any good way to get into East Bay right now without looping around out of South Pass. I have never fished East Bay before and all of the info I see is from 2011 and I know things change often. Thanks.

Coast guard cut, watch the sandbars on the south side of the pass.

Perfect is that the cut off of South Pass about 3 miles before the mouth? If not, does anyone have the coordinates for it?

Below is where I think you are talking about.

There is a sand bar that goes north out of the pass a long ways
I went that way last week of June went a half mile or so tunrned around and went out of S W pass back into east bay
If you go out the pass you can see the waves breaking over the sand bar
Be careful

No thats not it, it's the cut with a rock jetty on the north side about 1/4 mile past the lighthouse. You should be fine, but prepare for it to get around 2ft deep as you run out, stay on a plane and favor the north as you exit the cut and head into East bay.

eta: if you're asking about the safest, then running out of south pass and around would be it, just make sure you run out of S Pass far enough, but Coast Guard Cut will save you a few miles though.

Thanks for clearing that up Valesco. I was actually in that cut a few weeks ago with some guys catching pogies before running to floaters. Didn't realize that's what that was called.

Have you tried Bayou Joseph off of Southwest pass?

I haven't tried it, but I would love to hear someone say it was usable right now as it seems like it would be several miles shorter.

I use Joseph's Bayou at least once a week for work in a 23' cc with 1.5 draft. Saw a freeman run through east bay into Joseph's Bayou. Just make sure to go out far enough to miss the bars

Coast guard cut is easier and closer IMO.
Hard to miss on the west side past the lighthouse. Lots of trout in and around the cut too.
