Yeah, it is hot! A full week of 90 + temps finally comes to an end tonight with a cold front moving through. I have the genny ready in case we lose electricity.
Send the cold front this way. It's just freaking oppressive. Can't even escape to the mountains.

It's been pretty brutal here too. Heat index is currently 109. I'm sure it was higher earlier. I think it's been over 100 everyday for the last 2 weeks. One more hot day tomorrow then mid 80's starting on Monday. It's gonna feel like the a/c is on outside.

It has been 100+ 10 of the last 12 days (the other 2 just missed it). What's worse, In VA alone over 1 million people were without electricity........several of my buddies were out power 5-6 days and one buddy registered 97 degrees IN THEIR HOME!!!
It's been so bad most of us wouldn't even go boating. That cold front won't hit us til some time Monday but I am SOOOOO looking forward to it!!!
edit: Just checked current temp. 6:01pm and its dropped to 103 degrees.

Climate change, and I still don't buy it. Just another summer, it happens some times.

I mowed the lawn today. It was warm, upper 80's with a nice sea breeze. Kind of makes up for no power for 8 days after Irene last year. ;) 3 hours inland, it was as much as 107!
I sure would hate to live in Western NC and have a place with a nice sea breeze and not be at the beach. :trout:

You aiming that at me? We were down there last week and even with a 15-20 kt breeze it felt like a blow dryer. BTW, still need to get you to give me some recs on what to do to keep the AC from running 24/7. I promise I'll give you the right address this time.

Record rains last Spring and Summer followed by record low snow falls/record high temps this winter, record low rainfall this Spring and record high temps this Summer so far.
Climate change? Damn right there is. Look at what is happening across the globe climate wise.
Is the climate change due to man? I never thought so before but I have no other way of explaining these freak weather changes as I am ready to dismiss the cyclical thing.

If it runs 24/7 on the hottest days that means its sized right....right?

Yes, with a 20 to 25 degree temp drop from outside to inside.
If it's 100 outside and 75 inside with the system running "24/7", it's sized just right. Having said that, it usually doesn't stay 100 at night, so when the outside temp drops, the system should cycle on and off.

Last winter it ran 24/7 to keep it warm and on 90+ degree days the A/C will run all day to keep it cool. It's probably sized right and Dave is going to tell me to put in new windows, and a boat load of insulation. Being a vacation house it isn't bad but if I ever move down there, the utilities would break me.

I'm in VA also.......just got home from the pool with the kids. Truck registered 106 on the way home. :(
Had a friend (God rest him)who lived in Arizona. Used to tell me, we keep the AC at 80 because when it's 120 out and you come in, you freeze. "Felt like" temp was 109 yesterday when I came into the 75 degree house. Started to turn off the AC; wife got upset; very upset!

I didn't notice if you have a dock, lifts and a roof over the whole thing, but that's where I'd tell you to put your money.
Oh Ya, run power and water to the dock so you can have a shower and a bar. Add a couple of hammocks and the heck with the house.
