We are getting ready to launch the first Calcutta 390 . The boat is powered by a pair of Yamaha 350 outboards. It also has a new seating arrangement that offers seating for 6 adults at the helm station . We will update the thread as we sea trial next week. All of the performance numbers will be posted as well. This model has sparked a great amount of interest for us. Until now we had only built the 36 model with inboard outboards . Enjoy the pics.

We just recieved an e-mail from the captain of the Golden Shadow , private research vessel, I thought I would share it. They are doing a 3 year expedition on worldwide coral reef health. They use the 36 Calcutta as their dive vessel . The boat is loaded and unloaded onto a 220 foot mother ship daily.

The last 2 photos are from the Galapagos Islands.

Hi Steve,
Well it’s been a busy month but we have finally arrived into Tahiti.
It’s been nonstop since May really, with the transit from Miami and the research in Galapagos.

The research went well and we experienced some of the best diving ever.
I’ve attached a few pics.

Boat went really well and it was full to capacity with 24persons and dive equipment for everyone x 2!
The boys have really got the operations down to a tee now and it is running smoothly

Hope you like the pictures anyway!

All the best

Steve

I saw this while they were building it. This thing is massive and the pics don't do it justice. The hard top is bigger than most peoples living room. The 263 looks like a small dingy sitting beside it.

Very nice. I wish you guys would build a 31 like my 26. With the Gulf chop, a 31 would be ideal. Super nice work. Big departure from what you guys have been doing. Very envious.

Any performance numbers? Looks really heavy, even with 700hp.

I saw one of these 36s in Grand Isle this summer, and the sheer size is staggering. Pictures do it no justice whatsoever. Massive. And beautifully finished. You guys build a really nice boat. I'm still waiting for the 32...

It's hard to make a pair of 350's look small. That thing must be huge in person.

Absolutely beautiful boat but..twin 350 yamis look tiny on that beast. Looking forward to seeing performance reports.

Btw, who chose audiopipe speakers and a 2kw dome on a 400k boat?

I'd love to see it in person. Awesome.

Don't understand the dome/spotlight placement. Seems like that would be a problem. ;?

That shower on the back of the TTop is sick. Im guessing there's a soft water line pulled inside the main support tube? id love to see more pictures on this thing. That helm setup is perfect for long runs with a bunch of guys.

Tortuga,
Is there any chance you are playing with stretching the 263 to a 30?

If you owned Audiopipe you would put Audiopipe speakers on your boat too. BTW they sound great and rock.

Here are some shots of the delivery and the new owners on their first trip around Biscayne Bay.

The performance and fuel burn are as follows.

WOT 43 MPH @ 5900

25 mph 1.2 mpg
31 mph 1.1 mpg
34 mph 1 mpg

that was with full fuel and water and a clean gel coat bottom .

I would imagine the painted bottom will take off a tenth at least.

Its not too bad considering the 14 foot beam , sleeps four with enclosed separate head area and almost 40 foot LOA.

Not much to compare it to considering the boat would swallow almost anything in the outboard market. I know the 36 Grady express with twin 350's is comparable in performance but we still get better fuel consumption.

You are out of your mind. Both are awesome boats and are completely different with the exception of the cat hull. It is obvious by your statement that you have never stepped foot on a big Calcutta.

I'll have to say, the Audiopipe speakers Steve installed on my Calcutta sound amazing paired with the Fusion and no amp. I haven't heard any better yet.
