Marked them at about 120'...

Caught the hell out of them, throwing back many en route to a boat limit...

Ended up with a nice little mixed bag with various snapper, a red grouper, and a lesser amberjack mixed in...

Only mistake was not taking enough pinfish with us...could have added a boat limit of red grouper to the red snapper if we'd been better prepared.

Nice job. Thanks for the report. I have a group going with me Saturday and I may keep them in "closer." Nice to hear you got them in 120'

Wellcraft,

D'oh! We had vertical jigs available, didn't even think about swapping to artificials as we kept pulling snapper over the rails on cut bait.

I just saw your jigs, they look incredible! I'll check with the guys around here and see if they want to put together an order. =]

Gordo,

We ran out of Ft Desoto...just ran out to a number around 120' and used the finder to locate them. We had several triple headers and many doubles. They were voracious. We vented and released probably three times as many as we kept. From the reports we'd read, 120 was the magic number and it proved to work for us as well.

Good luck and tight lines!

cut bait willl always get the job done but when you run out of live bait drop down a vertical jig and you will remember this post ;-)

thanks for the compliment on my jigs. If you and your crew want to put together an order all at one time ill give you the best possible deal!

You just made my day with your post, those reds look delicious. Guess it is time to find out
how my 26 ft Leisure Craft does out there! A little more work on it I will feel comfortable not
being stranded out there. Still checking it out since I bought it about a month ago and making
things reliable.

VERY nice catch!
