Off of Race Point in Provincetown, MA, I see my anglers fishing for stripers by jigging skirt jigs through the sand. Talking to one angler, I was told to not bother if I am not using stainless steel line because the jig will never stay on the bottom. However, it appeared to me that there were boats jigging with line that wasn't stainless.

I'd like to hear some other people's opinion on that. Can I just use a heavy jig with my braid?

How deep and how slow can you go are important factors to answer your question. At zero speed any line can hold bottom.........at 3kts things change. I would suspect if you are working no more than 20' of water and your boat can go REAL slow you can do it with braid, might take up to a 6oz jig head....
