Decided to take my five year old on his first snapper trip yesterday out of Cocodrie. The forecast looked great calling for seas of less than 1 foot; well we all know how that goes. Hit the Gulf to a very sloppy 2-3 chop and decided we would not venture too far. He was a trooper and got to reel in quite a few fish. We decided we would not be picky and just keep the first 8 reds we caught as the little guy began not feeling so good. He spent most of the morning laying on the ice chest but would come reel fish in when they were hooked. Ended up with 3 nice mangroves (about 8 pounds a piece) 8 red snapper with only one going around 10 pounds. When we made it back to the dock he perked up and could only remember that he had a great time and had caught the most fish. Great day on the water!
