My good friend bought an engine from these ppl and it blew up in 20 minutes. The kicker is that they are doing NOTHING to make good on it. Now, I would not post this is I didn't know how meticulous this guy and his mechanic are, but I do. The restoration job they have done is VERY nice and to have this bullshit happen is foolish. The claims these hacks at marine engines are making are bogus and their failure to stand behind a product that came apart like a wet cardboard box in a hurricane tells me to run the other way...

I bought 2 454's and had them install everything on the motors as well as transmissions that they also rebuilt. They "bench tested" them and we dropped them in. Moved the boat from Beverly to Green Harbor and just outside of GH we lost most of the power in the port engine. Had the marina investigate and they found the push rods sheared in half.(pretty sure they are called push rods but not certain). Aparently they installed the wrong push plate. Also had oil leaking from both engines and transmissions. They did come down and fix the push rod problem but still had oil leaking from engines and tranny's. I had heard a lot of good stories about these guys and this is why I went with them. Long story short these motors and transmissions are no longer in my boat.

I also had a close friend hosed by them on an SBC. I think there are much more reputable places to do business with imho

Try Jasper engines. I bought a remanned 454 from them and had very good luck with it.

I have heard good things about Marshall Marine engines of Maine. Anyone ever use them?
