Hi Everyone,

I'm seeking some help IDing a baitfish. I'm in Palm Beach County this week and was swimming in the ocean when some small silver baitfish gathered around my lower legs and feet. Occasionally one would come in for a "strike" and give me a little nip that felt like a tiny suction cup. Later in the day a guy came in his boat with a cast net and was taking them for bait.

I thought this whole thing was pretty cool since we don't get such "friendly" baitfish at the Jersey Shore where I'm from. The fish looked like what we would call sand eels. A little long and kinda skinny. Anyone know what they might be?

On another note... Fished today off Lake Worth Inlet. Red snapper bite was slow but plenty of yellowtail and a nice catch of porgies. Bonito were out in force as well.

LOL. I have to be honest and say I did actually think of such a scenario. I was glad my bathing suit had a strong lining just in case. :grin:

They look like the aforementioned mullet. But we have mullet up in NJ and they've never acted like that. I was kinda taken by surprise by these little guys and how aggressive they were. ;cool;
