has any1 any info about this reel. want to use it for bottomfishing for porgies , cbass as well as some jigging. this is the non lw model of the bunch ;?

Made in china, but should meet your needs. I'm biased to the older Penn's, and would look to get a used Squidder or Long Beach.

Personally I would spend a little more and go tried and true with a Shimano TLD or Charter Special...

Agreed...I wouldn't dare use a new Penn for even a paper-weight.

I've got the DFN25LW and it is decent for bottom fishing. For the price, I am not sure you can get much better. Other suggestion you are likely to receive here will be at a multiple of the pricing for the defiance reels. Depends how serious of a fisherman you are. If you are truly recreational then the defiance reels are probably ok.
