Show us your dogs! Swimming, hunting, boating, fishing, plying, or just resting! I have a 4month old pup at my house named Dixie.

We have one, and boy is he some kinda hyper. He is smart, just never calms down enough for me to be able to do anything with him. We live in the country too, he is always free range. I think I need to talk to the vet and see if I can get him some ADD-ADHD medicine.

I'm on my second one. The first one,Kudzu, passed away after 15 years of loyal friendship. My wife and kids brought out Ivy, now about 22 weeks old, as an early birthday present for me. She is a constant companion and a great puppy. She also gets along well with my labs which is a plus.

Here's a couple of pictures of our 9 year old Boykin, Molly. In the first picture she's on the bow of our 13' Boston Whaler. Her ears create lift to get the bow up, don't need tilt and trim then. In the second picture we'd been quail hunting a few years ago.

Molly looks like an all brown springer, but a bit smaller. I'm sure she has the same spaniel personality.

Well, a Boykin is a bit like a Springer. Do Springer's have webbed feet?

A friend of mine from South Carolina once said "The Boykin is always the first one in a fight in the dove field."

At the ripe age of 8 weeks Ollie became a member of our family on November 30,2011.
Since that time our lives have changed more than I would have ever imagined. Being retired and spending most of my time outside daily has allowed Ollie to become so attached to me that when I take a step I feel his nose touching my leg. I honestly believe that he could run and play 24 hours without stopping. Being retired and home most days we see Ollie everywhere we look. Regardless of which door I go out he will be standing there waiting to greet me. I can assure you that Boykins are very active. Ollie is now 9 months old weighing in at 30 lbs.
Yes his favorite place to be when we are inside is sitting on the golf cart.

I'm sorry for your loss. That's tough. It is pretty interesting to see a Boykin in Louisiana! I heard thirty gaining popularity but most ppl in sc don't even know about them. The little brown dogs are amazing. There's a guy in NY that uses them to run turkeys! Then can do anything!

Yes Springers have webbed feet. They love the water and do the dock diving thing. They love to hike. They are natural bird dogs, but damn they love the fur too. They die to chase deer, but that's illegal in CA.

Yes, how could you tell?

We're out there about every Sunday morning. We like to anchor off the beach at Little Bear Island, essentially the north end of Kiawah Island.

Severance:

Molly will be 9 years old this month. If you'd see her at the beach chasing birds and playing with crabs all day, you'd think she was a year old or less. She hasn't slowed down yet.

We like to go folly on the river by the marina or at the sandbar on the middle, the sandbar is very dog friendly and we go to folly because not many people do and its more kid friendly. We will have to have a get together one day. Are you on charlestonfishing.com?

I would imagine we'll be out on the Folly this Sunday morning, haven't decided where yet, probably depends on where the wind is coming from. You can't miss us, we'll be in a 15' Whaler with a Boykin on the bow, providing lift. I'm not on charlestonfishing.com, but I might join.

Gracie was out of Edisto in South Carolina......they were one of the original breeders now retired.

Boykins are doing quite well down here with duck hunters.
We hunt our of small pirouge and thier size lends them to that.

The AKC, in my opinion, has turned on a whole new crowd, not sure that is good for the hunting side of the Boykins.

My new pup is a Wachtelhund252321

But I will always have room for the right Boykin!!

I had one many years ago and love the dog. He came from Edisto Kennels outside of Columbia, SC. Great pet and hunter. the only issues that I had with Fred was that every time I casted a popping cork, he jumped out of the boat to retrieve it. Or when we through a shark back in the water, he was over the bow swimming around looking for the shark.

When I owned Fred, Boykins did have a problem with their hips and ears. But from what I have read, most of those issues have been bread out.
