do you mean as far as displaying 50/200 kHz at the same time? If so, yes.

to have two physically separate sceems you would need two 585'S. But I think you have something else in mind? So what is it you are trying to do?

If the application would be two units powered simultaneously off one transducer, my guess is the answer is "yes" with the addition of an SB260 switch box

to run 2 sounders off the same transducer.
1 sounder on bow, 1 sounder in front of me (tiller position).

Current information from GEMECO states best not to use the SB260 for two Furuno sounders with one transducer.
The SB260 can function with two sounders and one transducer with other manufactures head units....but not recommended with Furuno.
The SB646 is the unit recommended for using two Furuno units and one transducer.

thanks semper - will follow up.

the spec. states that "For use with all 1 kW fishfinders"...
can i use a furuno fcv585 with a P66 transducer, linked with another different brand (less expensive head unit)?

The good thing about the SB646 is that is can be used with 2 different manufactures head units.
And yes, you can use it with a 600 watt P66.
But..make sure your FCV585 is set at 600 watts also.
The problem is that the SB646 is a new unit and is not immediately available.

I would think that getting one tilted element 50 and one 200 for each machine respectively would be tits.

i agree, but I will not be fishing bluewater and hence no need for the 200.
