Well we pretty much canceled most of the week already and now it looks like the weekend is 100% blown out starting tomorrow night into Monday. We might have a small window tomorrow AM- early afternoon to sneak in a long trip but I have my doubts.

Here is where being a captain is fun  Got the boss on one hand who is understanding but wants to profit, got my mate who needs to eat, and LAST I have my clients who want to fill the box.

Greed is a bitch sometimes... I think I am gonna just pull the plug now so everyone can make other plans for tomorrow. That low pressure out there has me kinda worried. Running 40-50 miles out with that thing headed this way really gives me that "o shit" feeling in my gut.

Time to follow my own advice: If you don't know don't go!

More of just a rant of this June.. Its costing us (by us I mean everyone in the marine industry) a lot of money. I talked to a friend they were down over 40k for this month from where they were last year. that is huge. No it's not a fishing boat but it is a marine business.

Mother nature can be evil, don't tempt her.
If the report changes even a little bit we will go, but with the forecast today of 3-5 through tonight, then 2-4 tomorrow and back to 3-5 tomorrow evening and 5-7 this weekend??? I don't get how they have 2-4ft for tomorrow... The seas won't have time to lay down between tomorrow AM and PM.

Be safe, use your head and don't watch the weather reports because I sincerely do not believe they have this wave under their thumb yet. This could be a monster with how hot the gulf is, we just don't know it yet.

Again be safe out there don't risk your life for a fish.. even if that is how you make a living.

I've come to the conclusion of adding + 2 feet to the waves and +10 knots to the wind of whatever forecast you check.

Fished last weekend in "2-3" with a 12-15 knot wind. Yeah, right! It was ruuuuuufffffffffff.

yeah they missed it this morning no doubt.. it was not blowing 15-20kts no way. However we would be on our way in right now getting the bullshit beat out of us so.. my couch was the right choice :)
I could have just got the fishing portion of the trip in but the ride home would have been very bad. Beat the crap out of us and the boat. Just not worth it.

I also add 2 to whatever they call for because they suck at their job. I actually emailed Bay news nine today and asked them how they forecast the weather. I said do you just guess? I mean last night they were calling for 4-6 ft today, I wake up this am and its 2-5ft? WTF is 2-5 ft?? That is over 100% opposite seas. I don't expect to get a reply but I wanted them to know that I think they suck at their job
