We leave out of the Bodkin and run toward bridge, would be running spoons and 6" tubes on planes. Any suggestions for locations or rig changes?

Little early for Smacks but you might find a few blues farther down below the bridge. There were some Chopper blues caught down there a couple weeks ago but have not heard anything lately. One report of a cobia seen off the mouth of the Severn R. Spanish will be making their way up here shortly and I've had the best success off Poplar Island but have caught them in the Chester R. late in the season. Long run from the Bodkin. One word of advice- if you're catching blues, you're not trolling fast enough to catch Smacks- you need small gold or silver spoons and long flurocarbon leaders of about 15-20# test.

For Spanish Mac, you are going to need to go to the ocean front of Va Beach. Very nice Spanish being caught there this week. Like DaveHuz said you are going to need small gold or silver spoons and long leaders of about 15-20# test. I would put a #1 or #2 planer in front of them.

Spanish typically make it up to Sharps Island area around mid July, may be earlier this year with less fresh water and earlier spring.

They never really made it that far up last year as far as I knew.

Thanks guys!! Will take some time to learn areas now, so I can figure out what needs to be done.

I'm going to give the mackerel fishing a try this weekend, will let you know how it goes. Out of fleet's bay.

I'll be heading south as it is too early in the season to expect them to be up in the bay yet. Last year they were very good in my area from about the beginning of august through mid september. I'm thinking it may be a few weeks earlier this year due to the hot start to summer.
