Have a low hour (150+/-) 2005 Yamaha F250. Now going on to my 4th ECU replacement and wiring harness. Thank God I went with the YES warranty, which expires Nov '12.

Hasn't cost me anything yet, other than confidence, any thoughts on what is causing the almost regular failures? When she runs, she runs fantastic. Seems like every 30-40hrs ECU goes and blows main fuse on motor.

Input appreciated.

I could never imagine any tech worth his salt would put more than one replacement ecu in a motor and not look for AND FIND a problem that is causing it's demise.

I'm surprised Yamaha hasn't balked or tried to figure it out it either. Those ECM's are not cheap.

Taking it to different dealer this week. My thoughts exactly about just replacing the part - need to get to root cause. Will let you know.

 Great...let us know what you find. Improper grounding has probably killed more electronics than any other cause.....

Especially where the ground lug is fastened to the side of the block. Many times the paint does not get scraped away properly, or the nut backs off slightly...causing many problems.

Intermittent grounds cause lots of surging and high current in boating systems.
