The Sports Forum - Looks like Cocks off to good start in CWS

This HURTS coming from a Clemson fan but I have to admit I want to see the Gamecocks do the 3 peat in Omaha and looks like they are off to a very good start

I know the shit I will hear when they pull this off but a 3 peat in a major D1 sport is unheard of and would like to see them pull it off

Well that was the biggest hurdle last night. The gators are a very tough team but I think we got in their heads. The gator coach looked defeated well before the end of the game. Go Cocks! BTW tprice I saw your post on gamecockcentral. Good post there also. :)

Great game! I stayed up to the very end. You are correct. UF has it in their heads you could see it on the coaches face. That said I think USC has it in their heads too. Would love to see a 3 peat but we have a long way to go. Something tells me we may see the gators again before it is all over.

a 3 peat would be pretty wild and i wouldnt doubt that they could do it again this year, there are still a few guys on the team that i played with in 08-09 so i hope they get another one

They do amaze. There is nothing obviously awesome about the 2010, 2011 or 2012 team - except their post season W-L record. Amazing indeed. Normally you might say there is no way anyone beats Arizona the way they are swinging the bats. Then again, nothing normal about these Cocks.

Despite the fact that we came up short when it mattered most, this was Tanner's finest coaching season. The future looks very bright. Thanks for the kind words tprice-I would like to think I could do the same if the roles were reversed!!

There needs to be a lot of credit given to coach Holbrook, he is the assistant but I can tell you that he is has transformed that program ever since he was able to get his recruits in and that was the first year they won it

Dunno what happened to Carolina...their bats went to sleep and Arizona's never cooled off. It was great to see them in the circus, though...I don't think anyone(including Tanner)expected this at the first of the season.
Arizona played the better game...and they deserve the championship.

One thing that irritated me was the expanded strike zone - really an exaggerated example of each ump having their own strike zones too. And in that huge park, the games are much more boring than they were at the smaller park. That helps the Cocks as much as it hurt them at times, but it made the CWS less exciting than it used to be. Congrats to Arizona. By end of the year, they were the best team.
