The warm waters and shifting bait has really slowed down our inshore trolling bite. Inside 10 miles is really hit or miss. Today we had a few spanish mac's a just legal king and a few bonita. Not really slam up fishing on the troll. If you make it past the veterans reef you will find miles and miles of flipping bonita jumping all over the place. Those put up a great fight but not very good on the plate. Within those piles of Bonita you will find some spanish and kings.
If you can make it out to 15 miles W of clearwater you will find Kings, Mac's and Bonita. Inside 10 miles you will find a lot of nothing. We covered a lot of ground this morning and it was lack luster to say the least.
I have 2 1/2 day trips tomorrow and weather permitting I will be pushing a little bit further offshore (11-13 miles) to try to locate some trolling fish.
If we are unsuccessful we will go to the bottom for grunts, gags and undersized red grouper.
