I've recently moved to Calvert County and have launched into the Patuxent at Benedict Bridge a few times just to get the boat running. Seems like a lot of fisherman and crabbers in that area.

Any advice for a first time Patuxent Fisherman? What's that place got? What's hittin?

Anyone want to blow off a friday morning? I think I'm going to try and hit it this week.

Been a few years since I've fished that far north on the Patuxent... I'm closer to Solomon's and no longer trailerable...
Benedict definitely has plenty of options for fishing... bloodworms and the like will catch plenty of perch/croaker/spot on the bottom... sliding into some of the local creeks with some beetle spins and the like will catch similar fish with good results...
I've caught plenty of decent sized rockfish around Sheridan's Point in the past trolling... and have run across breaking rockfish right at the bridge and have had a blast casting small bucktails at them...
I've landed a few catfish as well... typically heading north...
Use to run a trotline for crabs near Broomes Island... Probably still a lot of regulars so get there very early if you are going... If you haven't found Stoney's, you need to for a nice lunch or dinner or drinks...
Also, Battle Creek has a nice sandbar to drive the boat onto that fills with folks just chilling later in the summer...

Thanks! I'm definitely going to get out Friday morning. Drop a few crab pots and then go play around fishing.
