We're going. Does anybody know that schedule or what other acts will be flying? I know the Blue Angels will close it out, but the website says 5 other acts will participate. I can't find any more information than that or any airshow schedule. Weather looks like it should be good.

I know one thing, its gonna be a sight to see. Wish I could go.
Was just looking at the Coastal Navigator site, and there a swingin jag of ships already in the harbor and enroute. A convoy of Canadian Navy, Brit, as well as our own sailed through last night and this morning. The ship carrying the new bohemoth cranes for the harbor is on its way up the Bay too, and will be anchored off of Thomas Point tonight.

Is that part of OpSail 2012? If so those ships are a site to see!

They were down here last week / weekend and were headed to Balmer Tuesday.

I think most of them came up here...
Opsail, I'm not so sure about, but the Start Spangled Sailabration (had to get corny with the Sailabration bit) is the big War of 1812 Commemoration in the Balt Harbor this weekend.

Yep, same thing. I expect it will be a big thing up there since that is where the song was written! I would like to see it again, from the land this time. I'll put up some pics when I can.

I highly recommend it!!!

I'm hoping to go Sunday. My house is right around the corner from it. If they're taking off from Martins, they'll pass right over it.

i bartend in fells point which is part of downtown baltimore and let me tell you it was crazy busy yesterday.... there are ships and sailors everywhere... i was talking to one sailor that said that as of now the harbor is open to private boats but as the weekend comes they will not be allowing in private boats past the ft mchenry point.... with that being said if anyone plans on attempting to drive down there and park leave plenty of time early because like i said people are freaking everywhere

I drive the key bridge every day for work. It looks like there have been a bunch of boats parked right by the USS Comfort so they may be regulating private traffic already. Have you seen the Blue Angels practicing? They ran right over Curtis Creek as I was passing over today?

Anyone go by boat today? Kids want to go tomorrow and I am curious as to how whether it is worth the run, can you get reasonably close etc...

We went, it was well worth the run. We anchored just off the Southeast corner of the Aerobatic Box exclusion zone and had a front row seat.

Here is a link to the boating information for the air show, including charts with the exclusion zone.

http://starspangledbaltimore.com/faq/?page_id=144http://

The "Regulated" area was effectively ignored, although pretty much everyone treated the entire river inside the Key bridge as a no wake zone on the way in. You could motor straight up to the box.

The Aerobatic box is clearly marked on the water by US Naval Academy YPs (110'ish grey baby warship looking things) and if you miss them, I'm sure the Coast Guard patrol boats will help you out.

There were a lot of boats, but plenty of room to find a good spot to drop the hook. Getting in was easy, but leave some extra time to get out, it was really sloppy with all the wake.

Hope you make it. We're going back again today.

Hopefully it is a better show today. One of the solo's had a problem after the first crossing manuever so the Blue Angels show was kind of a bust. It was still entertaining though.

The show was great today but maybe a little slow with the watercraft demos mixed in. The solo guy that flew before the Angels went supersonic on one run heading straight towards where we were anchored, if only I had the camera rolling it would have been an awesome shot.

Thanks for the info, have to say it, I am glad I made the trip.

Just me and the two kids today. Honestly, I just wonder how they arranged to get the blues to fly on fathers day for me?

Seriously, after an inner harbor cruise, the tall ships were really cool, both kids fell asleep on the way back to the Magothy.

Quick blues video clip below!
