There will be several issues on the agenda of interest to recreational anglers. The most important of course will be the possible reopening of the Red Snapper fishery.
They are discussing 3 options
Option 1 - no reopening
Option 2 - weekend reopening and small commercial limits
Option 3 - Exempted Fishing Permits allows a few boats (chosen by lottery) to fish for scientific purposes
We of course will favor Option 2.

The most important thing to remember is that the decision will be based on dead discards.
DO NOT repeat DO NOT talk about:
fish floating away - pure dead discard
having to go through 10 Snapper to get to a grouper - they use a very high mortality rate, you say "I have to go through 10 snapper to get a grouper" they hear "I have to kill 4 snapper to get a grouper" the result will be no snapper and tighter groupoer restrictions.
Talk about the snapper population being the best in memory and the care we all use to ensure that the fish we do catch, tag and release arfe healthly.
Warsaw & Speckled Hind (Kitty Mitchell) - They are trying to get these listed as endangered species.
Speak to the fact that these fish are abundant and that there is the present closure is sufficient and there is no need to list these as endangered and therefore there is no need for additional area closures.
Amendment 18B - Golden Tilefish
Action 1 - limit participation
Longlining should be prohibited in not only this but all fisheries. Recreational anglers must receive a 50% allocation of the fishery.
Action 4 allocation
allocate 100% of the commercial fishery to hook and line. Longlining should be prohibited in not only this but all fisheries. Recreational anglers must receive a 50% allocation of the fishery.
Action 5 - transferibility
No quota should be transferrable in this or any other fishery. This simply puts all the fish in the hands of a few.
Amendment 18A - Black sea Bass
No quota should be transferrable in this or any other fishery. This simply puts all the fish in the hands of a few.
