My Optimax 200 (2000 yr) is not starting and working properly. As soon as engine start RPM skips on 5000 and down 1200, idles very rough and stalls pretty quickly , RPM all the time jumps , no water in the engine the second engine works very well . I think this TPS ог coil or compressor?
1. Plugs - new
2. Fuel filters - new
3. Fuel pomp diagram - new
4. All water pomp - new
5. Thermostat - new
Thank you for any help

Check for fuel on the air side of the rails. The tracker valve could be bad.

I hope I don't get beat up for this, but on an engine that old the first thing is update history which should be logged at Mercury by your serial number.
Any Mercury dealer can see this history, but not where it was performed.
Buying parts can put you over the edge and still not kill the problem.
A tracker valve is only available as part of the fuel rail it attaches to, not something you just want to buy.
Find a good Mercury shop in your area and pay them to scan the engine and test performance on a dyno.
There are so many things that could effect performance and idling to list.
Just my meager 200 post opinion.

Cool. How did you go about repairing diaphragm problem? Did you send it off to have it replaced?
I got 2001 so I'm probably looking at same repair at some point.

That is rediculous, the tracker valve is asolutely available and easily replaceable. I got mine for about $100 each(have twin 225, yr 2000) and it fixed the problem you are having. Take yours off and look at it, if it is ripped you need a new one...if not, you have a different problem.
