Great boat I just sold mine... Piece of advice if you think you will find something in this size that rides better and has the space in cockpit n height in cabin you won't.... I miss my express already I sold cause we do more family stuff now so needed a boat with more long term overnight capabilities! But man do I miss not having to worry about sea heights or weather the boat literally is a 26ft beast! Good luck with sale!

Thanks rclauss.....really only reason selling is father to old/frail to take her out and enjoy her anymore....probably just slip into something smaller like a little whaler to go to the islands

If the Regulator factory guy is on this site------Could this boat be modified for Four stroke
engines ---or would it entail a new bracket altogether?

It would need the larger bracket for the heavier four strokes. Look at pic 3, the bracket only goes down halfway to the keel. Even though it has a cabin the Express doesnt weigh much more than the CC.

Bolt pattern is also off for the newer/larger bracket. 2001.5 boats have the newer bracket and bolt patterns.

My understanding was it will fit the suzukis but not the yammahas due to size, not weight.

It will need a new bracket. I have a 94 express that was repowered with Honda 225 4 strokes. Mine was an i/o originally. You could always go with etec's and keep the same bracket. These are awesome boats.

Alan...to answer your question, the electronics are not original to the boat...about 4 years ago I had the Raymarine C 80 installed , with the DSM300 Digital Sounder Module. (Transducer mounted through hull). Also, the Raymarine ST6001 smartpilot Autopilot, with hydraulics.. The Autopilot is mounted in the console(flushmounted) and the C80 is in the helm electronic box.
I do have all the mauals in the original Raymarine canvas filekeeper that came with the units.

For those asking about brackets and 4 strokes...... You will need to put new bracket to run the four strokes. I have a 96 Express w/ I/O and contemplating putting bracket on mine to run 4 strokes. Boat truly is a beast in any water so no need to replace the boat. I called Regulator direct and Al said to contact Oyster Cove Boat Works in Gloucester VA, 804-824-9904. Owner there has a refurbished 26 Express.
- He, Chris Leigh, has been most helpful. He upgraded his Reg to the new bracket (bought direct from factory) and runs 2x 300 Yamaha 4 strokes. Performance #s are out of this wold incredible.
Hope this helps. Good luck w/ sale

Hello Dan,
It's Lou from Delaware, I spoke to you on Tuesday evening.
Are the batteries currently up to charge, about how old are they, and would it be available to sea trial on a day or two notice?
Also, you mentioned that you just purchased the trailer about a year ago,....but tag says manufactured in 2006, was this a used trailer, and are there any issues with it? Could you add some pictures of the trailer axles and brake areas?
One final question,...on the phone you said the motors had about 300 total hours yet you replied that you thought the engine hours are about 500, could you check the actual hours and confirm?
Thanks, Lou
danbailey
07-20-2012, 05:01 AM
Lou, checked with Tony...hours are 300, I was wrong.
batteries are currently charged and we can sea trial if you've got a truck to pull it to the ramp (about 2 miles away), we don't have a truck.
I'll take some pics of the trailer parts requested in a couple hours and post them...the trailer was used to hold demo/for sale new boats at at Atlantic marine, where the boat was originally purchased.

Are you guys really worried about the trailer and engine hours! Your looking at one of the best most seaworthy boats in its size! you have bullet proof saltwater series engines on there that barely have been broken in! (i had a 225 SWS with 1400 hours and its still running on the boat). Stop kicking the tires gentlemen and buy the boat you WILL NOT find a better riding nicer 26 ft boat anywhere!

What about the new gas and it messing up the fuel lines?? Is that a concern? I would just run non eth gas if i bought her i guess. But i would imagine if u had to replace the lines it could be a nightmare? That is the only concern i would have and hopefully wiht only 300 hours thats not a problem yet. They never had that in 97 u know.

Anybody know what it would cost to swap out the bracket and put a set of Yamaha 250 4S's on there?
danbailey
07-27-2012, 11:57 AM
MSRP 21.6-22.8 grand each engine yamaha f250. http://www.outboard-engine.com/enginespecs.php?recordID=212 easily googled. Pobably 4 grand or so for bracket (not armstrong) with installation. Thats why repowered boats cost so much more than this. Will gladly repower boat for an additional 58-60 grand. (gotta concider new guages, wiring, tilt/trim, etc...etc...) Think how much fuel savings you'll get! Especially with the price of ethanol free just dropping through the floor! (4 strokes cant even look at ANY% ethanol added fuel wihout requireing a trip to the dealer)
Yes, Im being a sarcastic smartass....Im in a mood because of that idiot doubledown427 posting above. Im not a huge fan of 4 stroke....and the boat is not priced for one with 4 strokes........Price regulators in the new/dealer market with 4 strokes. Repower to save on fuel.?...40,50,60 grand buys alot of damn fuel.
Kinda like a treehugger running out and buying a new Prious to save on fuel costs....like that'll ever add up....
This boat: bulletproof engines with low hours and great compression to prove it on each and every cylinder.
sorry...bad day

Damn Dan,....wished you would have done that before my Survey was done! She looks much better now....
danbailey
08-09-2012, 03:19 PM
Yeah, thats the problem with a survey sight unseen....the surveyor is going to pick any little thing apart-thats whats he's paid to do.
Forward bilge was just a simple bad toggle switch-replaced, fishbox impeller replaced and now throws water 10 feet out, replaced anchor light, ...Intercoastel yacht Service came today and started the gel coat "repair" on those scratches, be done tomorrow or next day if it doesnt rain, the barnacles came off with a hose.....and the autopilot does work.
Plus, I warned you about atlantic marine..they are pissed we're not brokering through them...and that was their surveyor...dealt with that in the past working in yacht yards around here...thats why I gotta put "feet on" myself.
Edited to add...He was kinda lazy too...made the comment about the hydraulics and when i looked, come to find out he didnt even pick at it any....he woulda seen in was just some surface rust under the paint if he had put his fingers on it.
