I was thinking of putting my boat on a transient dock or mooring for a week while on vacation but have no bottom paint. How long before growth starts around here?
The boat will be used everyday weather provided!

Northeast?

One week no problem. You may get slight brown staining if you have white hull. Gentle acid wash ( dilute toilet bowl cleaner) should get it off. You will not get barnacles.

I am in Southern Cal, I often leave my boat at the transient dock for a week at a time, the boat at one time had bottom paint, I put is on a trailer 10years ago, prior to that it was on a lift, never removed the paint, don't think it as any effect at this time, after a week I have these small white spots and a scum line but no growth, it comes off with a blast from a craftsman 2700 psi power washer.

.you'll have no issues for a week, even if it just sits.

week should be ok. You'll see the growth start at the water line before it attacks the bottom of the hull first I think. So if you start to see the green aglea and little hairs starting at the water line it may be time to haul and power wash.

Agree with all the comments here....1 week = some brown stains but no heavy growth. I would also add that if you are in an inlet (up the Annisquam, for example) you probably will get more growth than in more quickly moving open water, like a mooring near the channel.

On a related note, I tried to get away with bottom painting every 2 years instead of every season....the guy at my marina strongly recommended against this, so I painted it again this year. I was in Marina Bay last season (mouth of Neponset river) where you get some nasty, muddy water and a lot of growth.

Depends on water temp.
