Anyone been to Alaska to fish? I'd like to fish for salmon in the streams/rivers? I have no clue where to go.

Wife is going so horse back riding, shopping would be nice close by,,,

Any lodge or city I should start my search?

Thanks.

Also, what time of year is the best for stream fishing salmon?

Thanks for the links Semper Fi!

That's exactly what I was looking for.

Are there any anglers who use spinning gear instead of fly rods in these streams?

we fish all along the Kenai and saw more spinning gear than fly rods used.

I don't bother with fly fishing, most stream are overgrown with alders and trees along the edge and make it a pain in the but. You will be fin with spinning gear but you will have to learn a few new techniques to be really successful for some species. I assume sempers links are for southeast, if so bring really good rain gear.
