Well my troops were loaded for bear and we found a bear. Holy shit, simply holy shit
How can all the weather sources be sooo wrong??? When I say wrong I am talking they missed it by a ton. It was 3-5ft (not THT) real world 3-5 with 6's mixed in. Rain all fuggen day.
Trip started as a 12 hour snapper trip and that quickly got chopped down when we hit the 6 mile mark and it was 3-4ft sloppy close chop, white water, rain 20-30kt winds blowing S/SW/W then NW. Black lines coming through just singing with rain and wind.
So I had a talk with the crew and said hey we can turn back here and refund your money or we can go out to red grouper grounds and give that a shot i told them their dreams and mine of busting a few big lips into the box was not gonna happen today.

So they agreed to red grouper fish and off we went at 9kts...yes 9kts. Busted off one of my main top supports that holds the top up, so now I am taking rain, spray and everything else through the front window.. FML I get to 12 miles and I am thinking ok this shit is about to end we are going home... Rain stops, wind backs down.. I say humm... lets keep pushing its getting nicer.. WRONG MOVE.. as soon as we broke the 20 mile mark white water every where, went from 3-4 to 4-6(guessing) big short swells breaking all over the joint. It was sporty.

Any how we finally made it to red grouper land and screwed around with some phin, gags, grunts, sea bass (in 90 ft ;? ) Then we got serious and put the hammer down on the grouper and limited out on 2 stops. Had some toads break off, boated 3 or 4 really nice fish the rest were just average size 21-22 in.. couple in the 24 in and a couple slobs. Still trying to get my photos from my phone to send the pics over.. Rain and cell phones :nono:

Anyhow, no red snapper today, I have a 2 day private trip Sunday and Monday that we will be spanking them down on.

Look for the photos of today trip as soon as my phone works with me...

Glad you and the crew got back safely. Iwouldn't have wanted to be out there today no matter what.
We're heading out Sunday.

I can't say that I "wanted" to be in it, but it is what it is. I could have turned around, but wedding, honeymoon, operation on dogs ears ect... It was safe just rough a piss. At no point did I feel it was unsafe, just sloppy

thanks guys, we try to make everyone happy even when the weather sucks..
One thing is for sure in the charter business. If you are tied up you are 100% not gonna make a dollar.
That being said you gotta know your limits and your vessels limits. We were there :) or at least I was. miserable conditions sum it up

We were upset Thursday am and the forecast had been 5-10 knots and sunny for Friday all week, then changed to Rain and Thunderstorms with 15-20 knot winds Friday night. We pushed our trip back to Saturday morning, but crushed them and only kept big ARS. Also landed one really nice Black grouper. I'll be posting the report later today when I get some more pictures.
