All those years on the water and I've never been to Montauk. What is there to do if we took a trip over there for a weekend?

If you want some specifics...

Beaches... whole south side by the village is nice.
Eating:
West Lake Chowder House has good food and is kind of salty and local.
Dave's Grill has the best food in MTK and is more high end (you can dress clean but laid ****** but the entrees are great but pricey.
Harvest is also great food.

Fishing: Lots of light tackle and offshore guys available, but if you bring your own boat, the fishing is great from Gardiners bay all the way around the fork.

Where to stay?
If you have a pet with you and want a cottage: Lenharts and Hither House are good. They have fireplaces too.

Sands Motel is ocean side and kind of reasonable. Not fancy
Snug Harbor is a good motel and marina.

I prefer to keep my boat at the westlake marina. They're the nicest people and it's a very laid back place. Good tackle shop too.

have fun!

Inlet seafood is a good restuarant near the end of east lake drive (other side of the Harbor)

That's actually the best advice here. That's the MTK grand slam!

There used to be an Asian restaurant you could bring your catch to and they would prepare it for you with all the sides.

Probably still there if you ask around.

'Wok and Roll' in town. Very good, I enjoy bringing fish there they do a great job cooking it.

"Wok and Roll" is awesome, definitely bring your fresh fish there. Even though I have never done it you could go the point and climb to the top of the lighthouse (for a fee, not sure how much). Lake Montauk is great for water skiing/wakeboarding/tubing if you enjoy those sports. I have a 23' center console and have stayed at Snug Harbor a bunch of times as they have both a hotel and marina. West Lake is right next door, so it's a 1 minute walk to go for a decent meal if you would like. Bunch of touristy type shops at Gosman's dock up by the harbor entrance. You can go watch the surfers at Ditch Plains Beach, some great beaches on the south side. The fishing isn't too bad either:)

Wok N Roll is good, the harvest has amazing food, west lake marina is probably one of the most low key marinas youll ever find really great people i take care of a few boats there. Liars saloon is a great place to drink with all the locals right next to west lake and cyrils has a great happy hour.

If you trailer, make sure you stop by Cyrils's on the stretch. Best drinks in Bonac!
