I have a 04 150 HPDI that while crusing yesterday at about 2000 rpm shut down and would not restart, the injector relay is clicking continuously, it does not matter if the key is off or on. I swapped it with the main relay and it still keeps clicking/buzzing in the injector slot. The motor turns over fine but wont start. For a short while after the motor shut down the tilt/trim worked fine (had to raise or lower the motor a couple times) but now it does not work either, the relay for that just clicks when i push the switch no matter where I try from (helm station or motor switch, up or down). Any ideas?

Hard to say. I would check all of your battery connections and cabling first. Your losing other electrical items.

Thanks for responding sim but actually I think the tilt/trim is a separate issue, removed trim motor wires from relay and ran straight 12 volts to wires, motor did not work, getting 12v at relay when pushing trim switch but motor not working, I checked battery connection at the batt. switch, good connection and getting 12.3 V at the starter between pos. at batt. and neg on block. Not loosing any other electrical items that I am aware of. I would really like to get this other issue fixed first but what are you charging for a tilt/trim motor. The boat has twin 150s so I can switch out parts to test.

Sim, I think I am headed in the right direction on the injector relay, I traced all the grounds and checked for corrosion, none, took the key switch wiring connector apart at the motor, put the relay back in and had no clicking, re-connected the wiring connector, still no relay clicking. Hooked up water and started the motor, it ran fine with the muffs. could the key switch be the problem? Is there a way to check the switch and/or the wiring from the key to the motor. Don't want to have problem offshore.

Also I have a wire that in broken in the (black wire)insulation for the tilt/trim. It is broken right above the trim motor. Is it repairable or is a new one in order. What is your price and do you have one on shelf.
Motor 04 Yamaha HPDI 150 - LZ150TXRC I think P/N is 64E-43880-04-00 but please verify.
Thank you.
Dennis

A flaky key switch could make the engine die. Do you lose the gauges at the same time?

The wires coming out of the trim motor are not replaceable as a Yamaha part. 67H-43880-04-00 $526.18 for that trim motor assy. We would have to order the part.

Also check ARCO Marine....they offer aftermarket trim motors that are cheaper then Yamaha OEM.

Your right Sim I did find an Arco locally for 250. I did not notice gages shutting down, will check if it happens again, I think its either the key switch or the wiring harness from key to motor. Should the power to the motor and injector relay be off if the key is off? I can't do any more until it happens again can I? hope it does not happen while offshore, going on a test run on thurs. keeping it close, then if all is well maybe offshore on Sat. Will let you know. Any tests you can think of to check switch or harness? Would your doagnostic software pick up this kind of problem? Once again thank you so much for your help.
