Anyone use them? Any specific brands? Any noticeable improvements(less smoke-improved mpg) with usage?

I use Seafoam in gas and diesels. I also ran Amsoil Cetane booster in my Dmax's. I can't honestly say i've noticed huge differences before and after other than an improved idle on the gasser with the seafoam. I can say that i've had very few if any powertrain issues on any of my trucks, so maybe there's some correlation there.

Diesel Shok, same people that make Gas Shok. The people in my marina that use, it swear by it. Whether it is gas or diesel, contact info www.usafuelservice.com. The only problem is when you first start using it you have to change filters a couple of times. It cleans all of the garbage that builds up in your tank.

Diesel Kleen in my dmax. It definitely runs stronger when I use it.

Try Stanadyne. I get one mpg better in my diesel Excursion. The motor runs noticeably more quiet.

I have used Power Service Diesel Kleen which ads in some lubricity back into the low sulfur fuel, kind of like adding back some lead into gasoline, also has a cetane boost.

That is the on,y stuff that I have ever run that makes a noticible difference. I usually see about a two mpg boost, much quiter engine and it even runs cooler.

Recent conversation with our field tech regarding contaminations found in the diesel tank we clean, and it was noted that about 70% of the customers had some form of a biocide they were 'proud of'. What we see while cleaning diesel fuel tanks and a biocide has been used is we find a course granular grit from the bottom of the tanks.
I have Detroit Diesel, Mercedes Benz, Powerstroke, VW TDI and a Cummins where we use no biocides only Sentry Diesel Plus.

SEAFOAM through a diesel with high pressure common rail injection is not a good idea. SEAFOAM contains additives in it to clean and dry out your fuel, but no lubrication to it. It also contains ethanol, so keep that in mind as well. It's your engine, but it has been reccomended by SEAFOAM I believe not to use it as a long term additive in diesel engines due to the ethanol content.

I add biodiesel. The least expensive, and according to a study that is on the web, the best diesel lubricant available.

We use Stanadyne in both Cummins truck and Volvo boat. I figure 5% better mileage with the truck, and significantly quieter and less smoky, especially when cold. Smoother and a bit more seat-of-the-pants power as well. Easily worth the cost (which is much lower in cases of half-gallons rather than small bottles).

Slightly off topic, a very good read about additives for diesel fuel here http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=177728

I use Optilube since day one in my cummins, now with 168k

That was a good read on additives, but look at teh date on it. Almost all of those additives have been changed several times since then. For lubricity it is hard to beat 2 stroke oil as an additive except for say a 2% or better mix of biodiesel. And 2 stroke oil does help to reduce diesel rattle. Be careful what additives you use though in a truck equipped with a DPF, and ESPESCIALLY a truck with a DPF and SCR(diesel exhaust fluid).

Do not use seafoam! Diesel kleen or fords diesel treatment.

Stanadyne only thing I use.

+1

A while back it was the only one "allowed" by certain manufactuers of diesel engines.

Please provide data on what additives have changed and by how much.I'm not aware of any current tests on the products, but if you notice that article came out right around teh time that ULSD came out. Most all of the additives that were tested were the pre ULSD formulas. Most all of them now have something on them stating for use in ULSD.

+1 Diesel Kleen - 7.3 liter F250. Use it every other tank, but generally fill from 1/2 or 1/4 tank.

What Diesel engine are you running.

There is a product out there called revxoil.com My brother has a 6.0L Powerstroke w/ 240K miles and went from 12mpgs up to 14.5 with the oil additive. Did not use the fuel additive yet, but if you are looking for fuel mileage, they have a little video on there explaing that the EPA makes the oil companys take out some of the detergents that benifits the engines to make it a little cleaner, and this puts it back in there.

7.3 PSD....260K. Runs well.....put a chip back in it, and it smokes a bit when I lay on it, or accelerate harder then normal.

Just had all of the injectors replaced too.

I have a 2001 7.3 with nearly 250K miles. My previous truck was a '97 7.3, which I sold to a friend and is still running strong. I have used just about every additive out there.

My conclusion... any diesel fuel that has bio (or B100 for that matter) added is hands down the best. The Diesel Kleen products make a noticeable improvement in the winter time when #2 arrives at the pumps. When I fill up with a non bio diesel, I add about a pint (about .5 ounces per gallon) of 2 stroke oil (cheap stuff from Wally World). These all make a noticeable improvement in mileage, and a "quieter" (read:happy injectors) motor.

Same here. Doesn't smoke as bad when I romp down on it. Big difference than when I first bought it with 132,000 miles on it.(142,000 now)
Diesel Kleen was recommended by a friend who used to be a long haul truck driver and currently uses it in his Dodge Cummings diesel.
