Decided to do it. Love the boat but as I get close to retirement, I want something that I can trailer around the state and fish in shallower water at times. Here is the info:

2004 Cape Horn 31 Offshore (called Tournament these days)
2004 Yamaha 300 HPDIs with about 460 hours on replacement powerheads
Motors under warranty until December 2013
T-Top with fold down tower
Garmin 2010
Airmar 1000 thru hull transducer
Raymarine closed array radar with A70
Stereo/CD
Outriggers
Trim Tabs
All the usual Cape Horn amenities. Everything works perfectly
Recently replaced oil pumps
Three brand new batteries
New Seastar Steering and helm
New Control Cables
200 hour service done in March
Boat is dry stored at Daybreak Marina in Pensacola, FL
No trailer
Average around 1.2 MPG on a normal trip
No idea of WOT but likely around 50-55

Asking $53,000. Glad to answer any questions.

They are great boats, best offshore boat made for the money.

How long have you owned and did both motors blow at same time or why the new powerheads?

fishngator
05-26-2012, 09:35 AM
My understanding is that they were replaced under a recall soon after they were purchased new. I'm trying to find out from Yamaha. I am the second owned. Both have pretty much the same hours so they were replaced at the same time. I hope to know by Monday.

Took the family out on her today. Ran like a dream. The wife actually wants me to keep her and it's going to hurt to let her go but I need a little more versatility.

you are making a big mistake! buy a trailer? your boat is one of the best made and I fear that if you sell you will be kicking yourself in the --- ;)

fishngator
05-28-2012, 05:35 AM
I know I'll regret it but I'd have to buy a vehicle to tow it with in addition to the trailer. Every now and then I get a hankering to do a little inshore, shallow water fishing and this beast is just a little too much for that.

Does the top fold down for trailering, how many hours on hull
in some of the pics she is sitting on a trailer, would it be available also ??

fishngator
05-28-2012, 09:35 AM
Not sure on the total hours on the hull. But anyone will tell you, a Cape hull is indestructible. It is in perfect condition. Cosmetically it's 90+%. No trailer. And yes, it's a fold down tower. Once I talk to Yamaha and determine when and why the power heads were replaced I should be able to give a rough estimate on the total hours.

It would not matter if the hull had a million hours on it. You do not have to worry about a Cape Horn hull. That is a great deal for who every buys this one.

WOW!!!! Beautiful boat, unbelievable price!! What happened to all the folks from the 3 page "looking for a 31 Cape" thread? This boat shouldn't last the week, good luck, but I agree, I think you'll miss it

Hit Man. Some folks hesitate because of the HPDI's but as you know if you take care of them and keep them serviced properly, they are great motors. They have some advantages over four strokes.

Checked with Yamaha today and looks like one power head was replaced in late 2006 and the other in 2007. I have a complete warranty history printout now.

You should go ahead and sell it to me and you will not have to pay the storage fee while you are out of the country. You can also be collecting interest on the money from the sale. Let me know if you change your mind.

No offense to anyone, but do these folk really expect to get a 31' CC for less than 50k? I ask because I have one and have had several PM's with crazy offers, almost offensive. I know boats are boats, warranty, etc...but a modern, well equipped boat of this class should have sold in 2 days, sorry, but I just don't get it. Gator, keep it, a year from now it will still be worth over 50k and yours! Good luck overseas!

Things may be held up a week or two, if so and if I can find a nice Andros Tarpon 26 in that time I'll sell her. I hope to know by tomorrow. Anyone that knows of a Tarpon 26 for sale, send em my way ASAP.

Have you been watching the news lately? Its not like our country is healthy $$$ wise, add to that the fact that gas prices are what they are......it makes pretty good sense to me.

If you do keep her until next year and still want to sell her at that time I would be happy to give her a good home and will have cash-n-hand. I sold a 2006 31 CH loaded with electronics on a trailer with 600 hours for 89k. I sold it in 2007ish. I got it with 100 hours and fished the hell out of it because it was such a sweet ride. If it comes back on the market someone better jump on it they are very nice riding boats. They run great, very solid, stable fishing platforms no frills just kills!!
