I will be in Hatteras all next week.

1. Just wondering what kind of run I would have to make to get a shot at some of those tuna that the OI fleet have been catching lately?

2. Another ? do you think they would respond to chunking?

3. On more ? How long a run is it through the sound from Hatteras to OI?

Thanks in advance,
Hawkeye

The best way to get there is to shoot through the slot. It's on the 915 line(other set of loran numbers) a few miles from shore. They are catching tuna around the 600-650 line. It's probably 50 miles going that route to the tuna hole. Going around the tower will add at least 10 miles.

Going the back side is much further.

From OI to where the tuna were yesterday, it was 34 miles from the sue buoy in about 600' of water south of the 102 tower and north of The Point.

Chunking is normally done in the fall as everyone is trolling for them right now.

If your boat goes on a trailer, just trailer it to OI

The fleet out of Oregon Inlet starts fishing at "The Point" and then spreads out mostly to the north but some go south . . . they start fishing around the 600 ft depth depending on water temperatures.
