I am not an apple person, don't own anything apple, but never have so I don't really have an opinion of them either way. I have a droid and it works fine for me. My wife wants a smartphone now and thinks she wants an iphone. She needs to be able to email and some internet use. She also wants a music friendly phone that she can plug the phone into some speakers for around the house and anywhere. From the little research I've done it sounds like the iphone may be the easiest for her to use as she is not tech savy at all. Is this the case and if so would the 8g be enough phone or should i go with the 16g

I'd go with 16G to prevent agonizing over what to put on the phone music wise and what not to. Better to just load it up with anything you care to hear and put your energy into deciding what to play when you listen.

The wife has a apple and loves it. She liked it so much she convince me to upgrade from my flip phone..The sales pitch is droid 4g is so much better than apple. Now I can't do the simple things like talk on the phone to easily. I also find my phone shutting itself off alot because of low battery.. Then I miss everything. I better check the bat level now. yup it turned itself off.. I had so calls I was expecting too...................

The beauty of the iPhone is pretty much all you've asked about in the original post. It's amazingly easy to deal with. I would consider getting the 32g though, I have a 16g ipod, and with about 1200 songs (and trust me, it happens quicker than you think) it's pretty much full. I have a 16g iPad, and I'm constantly killing songs or apps to make room for new stuff.

I'd have waited a few more weeks to see what the iPhone 5 looks like. Even if you don't like the 5's specs, the price of a 32gb iPhone 4 is going to plummet.

The iPhone is a well-integrated product. It's battery life isn't great. Is there enough battery life to use it as both a phone and for playing music a lot?

I believe there is. I use mine to death, and never need to charge it until the end of the day. Never plug it in the car, or anything like that.

I'm surprised by the statement that the battery life isn't great. My experience has been the opposite. Certainly much, much more so than the Android phone I had a year or so ago. Night and day.
