First of Hello everyone!!!
I have a newbie question here our boat sits in the water 24/7 (Salt Water) and I was wondering, would it be recomended to flush also does it matter if the drive is up or down?
I have a Monterey 262 with a Merc 5.7 and Bravo III. I guess to flush I would just raise the bravo place the muff's & hose and flush away after each use while in the water? Should I use something like salt away
As a 100% niewb here I appretiate all your coments, sugestions, education etc etc.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I flush my outboard for 30 minutes running after every use. Not sue about an I/O

If it sits in saltwater 24/7, I don't think flushing is doing much for you. The outdrive and cooling water intake will just fill up with saltwater when you finish flushing.

I would rethink leaving it in saltwater all the time. You will take years off the life of the engine and hull as well as need more frequent maintenance by leaving it in all the time.

I had a Merc 5.7 and Bravo combo on my last boat. When I started docking it instead of trailering a mechanic offered to installed a flushing port in the engine compartment. I would open the hatch hook up a hose and could flush that way. Since my boat was only in the water 5ish months a year I did not do it, but with yours always in this might be something to look into. Otherwise lifting the drive and running muffs could work since the fresh water will flush out the motor itself.
