Buddy and I were talking about this since he gets ripped off time to time.

Are there masterlocks that would be saltwater proof. I know they could take the whole bucket, but worthy of discussion

True and funny story, I was staying on the water in Ocean City MD, went to bait shop and got a bunch of minnows for some flounder fishing early the next morning. Got up loaded boat, pulled bait bucket out of the water and not a single minnow in the bucket. I was pissed, next night same thing happened. Night 3 I figured I would stay up and find out who is stealing my bait. So around 1am I shine the flash light down there and here are a couple otters having a field day with my minnows. Lying on their backs with bait bucket on their stomach, reaching in and getting them by the handful.

Told a permanent owner next door, of course he laughed and showed me how to secure the lid so they won’t get me again. He uses a medal shower curtain hook, drilled a small hole, and ran the shower curtain rod that through the black hole part of the lid and into the new hole drilled.

We've got lots of otters in Florida, and there is a popular restaurant on one of the islands in SW Florida with docks and a resident population of otters. The otters are so smart that they have learned to open coolers, baitwells, and just about anything with food in it. People tying up at the restaurant who do not know about the otters, come back to their boat to discover hatches open, coolers open, baitwells open and empty, etc. It's funny to watch - and fascinating for kids to see the otters.
