Just wondering if anyone here had the GSD22 and upgraded to the 24. Have not been overly enthused with the 22. Could be i have the settings wrong, all auto. Wondering if the 24 was better. Have all garmin equipment. All trolling, 7-9 knots, 150'-600', don't see much but bottom. 1 KW tranducer pod mounted in a 34' Venture. Could probably handle cost of a 24. Dont want to change my tranducer, so i not interested in the 26, also a little pricey for the fishing i do.
Thanks in advance

Have you downloaded the latest updates for the gsd 22 from the Garmin site? There are some recent ones that seem pretty comprehensive. You may want to see how that works for you before you spend more $$. Hey, its free.

X2 .
Gil @ SemperFi Fishing sold me on it. He is hard core Furuno through and through. He told me the GSD 24 was as good as if not better than comparable 1KW Furuno units.

Do a search in this forum. A number of us have already bitten the bullet with the upgrade to the GSD 24

Try this link, my personal experience & direct comparison.
A friend of mine saw my GSD24 in action and swapped out his GSD22, pairing a GSD24 to a P79 in hull transducer and he loves it as well. Night & day for us.
Although some do say they like the GSD22 I think you should also consider the additional functionality that the GSD24 offers, would that suit your fishing.
I'm not sure that you need to consider a GSD26, big money, swap out transducers, more big money, great results but hard to justify for some when the GSD24 is so, so good.
Speak to Gil, Semperfi on here, I''m a commercial fisherman & thought I was pretty clued up on fishing sounders but Gil really knows his onions.;)

I recently spoke with Gil and purchased the GSD 24, I sold in 1 day my GSD 22, all in all with the cost of labor my out of pocket expense was $550.00. I think it was well worth it, I have it paired with my full garmin package, 5212, m260 transducer. Speakwith Gil, he will give you lots of good information.

I went to the GSD 24 from a 22 a moth or so ago.
I bottom fish to 130' with a B164. Sensitivity and resolution are much better than the 22. For me it was worth the money. If you do not bottom fish, or fish large structure, it might not be worth it.

I am very impressed with the GSD-24 and Garmin has just released a new software update that will make installing the GSD-24 easier if you have to use the adapter to older 6 pin transducers.

I recently purchased the 24 as well. Now if I can figure out how to use the stinking thing!!! It has some many options and the owners manual......well..... it sucks!

Huh? What was so hard they had to make it easy? All I had to do was wire the old old cable in. It id'd the ducer and set it up correctly.
Did I miss something that should have been hard?

Not everyone had an easy time depending upon the transducer, MFD etc. Some units posed more problems than others.
