Sold my offshore boat and bass boat and bought a bay boat. The windshield is tinted lexan, I think. But it has tiny clear specks (lots of 'em) in the tint. When the sunlight hits them the specks of light are blinding. I thought it was pitted and bought an automotive headlight restoratiopn kit. Then I discovered the specks are in the tinting in the windshield material and not surface imperfections.

Has anyone experienced this and if so is there a solution other than a new windshield? I thought about applying automotive glass tint film but I'm afraid the windshield will be too dark and still have the specks in it. Thanks in advance for any advice.

auto tint will not work as the lexan expands and contracts too much with temp changes, leaving you with bubbles in the tint, which could be your problem now if the winshield has had auto tint applied to it.

Those are not clear specs .That is tiny cracks from heat ,stress, and age the only way to get rid of them is to replace the the windshield
