Whats the one car that you have always drooled over...... Has nothing to do with price, reliability, performance, etc..... Just pure sex appeal...
For me - I have always admired the looks and history of a Ferrari .... more specifically - the F430 ...
All I want is one week in Europe ,,, an italian supermodel,,, unlimited cash.... and a 6 speed F430... Then the man upstairs can take me :-)

Man, I would have ten different cars/trucks if I could. I would really like to have a late sixties Camero.....resto-mod.
I would also really like to have an early to mid 90's Mustang.....toss up between the LX and GT......I have always had a thing for those cars.
...Just pure sex appeal...]

I have two boats, two cars, 1 pair of underwear. They are all possessions and are not real important to me in the grand scheme of things. Again that statement has nothing to do with you. Don't be so self obsorbed. I still yearn for an orange colored Yugo though.

I am w/NNN I have always admired Ferrari's and I have fallen in love over the years with various models, but one model has truely captured my heart,,, the all new all-wheel drive FF. Form follows function with the FF. The lines deviate from that of traditional Ferrari, but it still captures the essense of the some famed Ferrari GT cars like the 550 and 575 Marenallo, which so happens to be one of my old favorites. All class....

If money was no object I would have to go with an Enzo or a Veyaron. Loved the 73 Cuda and the 69 Camaro for nostalgic cars. I also loved my 77 Grand Prix.
Desired cars that I can afford would be a ZR1 Corvette, and the 2010 Camaro SS that I actually own.

Really do enjoy the custom mods with the toys but the longer dragster has been a dream for me, for a long time.
Don't think the OP was talking about race cars but its what does it for me. Have not made it to the 1/4th track yet but touching 150 in the 1/8th in 4.5 sec, will get you fired up quick. Takes care of the need for speed.
Vette is to much fun to drive with the 3.90 rears and did a road trip yesterday, @ 20.8 mpg. Not bad for pro street, the ride is fantastic and in reach of us poor blue collar boys.
To me, the ultimate ride is the one you custom build, like you want it using your favorite toys to start with.

Ive owned and built all of the Ford muscle I wanted or dreamt of except one....427 Cobra. My last concept was a 64 Comet Pro Touring car...came out beautiful. In my opinion anything Italian is the $hit. My last bike was an Aprilia Mille R...like a Ducati, only better. The Ferrari of sport bikes. My pick would be any old 60's Ferrari, esp convertible and any new Ferrari, esp convertible. I think Ferrari has the market pegged when it comes to beauty combined with power. Theyre just works of art. A Ferrari is just as at home sitting in living room to stare at as much as ripping through the R's on a twisty road. Doesnt get better than Ferrari. Its about the only car that gets me fired up anymore.

Can you tell us a bit more about that Rover..... Really looks nice
I really like my Land Cruiser - its a great daily driver - little cheap inside (leather and control buttons) but the drive train and mechanical systems are 1st rate.... She can climb "curbs" like no other ... LOL
Well the rover, defender model, i bought in Conn. from a friend of mine named Wayne Carini who is into cars...it had a frame off restoration and some custom features added to make it a bit more civil but still rugged. we had it shipped to arizona and then we drove it down the baja peninsula to where it now resides and we flat wear that bitch out.. parts can range from hard to get to impossible to get here but with cali so close we have managed to get what we needed. this is one vehicle i will never sell..the others are toys but this one is kinda special. i have come across few obstacles that i cant overcome in it, beyond the foolish. Its a rough ride, but at least its not airconditioned, so you fry...so we have that going for us:)

I was just thinking...I really missed the golden age for "first cars", I won't complain too much, I got my second choice; a black on grey (w/ t-tops) 1989 Camaro Iroc-Z. But what I -really- wanted and was my first choice was my father's 850i.
The Camaro was originally a 5.7tpi/700r4 car. She was in the process of getting a built 406sbc and a built 700r4 transplant. The garage was broken in to and they took it all, the car, both engines/trannies, tools, a second (black) interior I'd been collecting from pick'n'pulls, totes and totes full of misc parts.

Not mine but exactly the same.
Out of the various vehicles I've owned, that was probably my favorite. My next project car (if the wife ever allows) will probably be a third gen with an LSx powerplant.

I always wanted a 1967 Chevelle SS....so I built one just as I wanted it to be. I did a complete frame off restoration all by myself. It was my second job for 3 years. I originally put a 350 small block in it that was built to drag race and would fly! but got little attention at car shows. Later I built a 454 and put in it, that won me "Best of Show" at the first car show I had it in.

I see a lot of people posting what are essentially big sedans with big V-8's (yes, some are 2 door sedans, but big sedans nonetheless) from the 1965-72 period. Yes, some of these cars had monster engines, but I have always felt that some of their claimed performance figures, ESPECIALLY top speed were greatly overstated. As for me, my dream big land yacht V-8 super sedan from that period is none other than the one that was actually tested and found to be the fastest production sedan in that period, the Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.3. It was the fattest sedan during it's production run up until 1972 and for a few years after that until the car companies figured out how to get power our of emissions restricted engines. IIRC, the first car to challenge its performance was it offspring, the M-B 450 SEL 6.9. What made it really different was that it could cruise all day long with 5 people on board at over 125 mph and because it had real brakes, it could slow you down from those speeds a hell of a lot better than its American counterparts. Of course, the bad news is that now and even today, technology that allowed the car to perform like that, like self adjusting air suspension, means that it is an expensive car to run.

IIRC, the "flachbau" or slant nose model of the original turbo was never imported into the US legally because they were mostly made from 81--83 or 84 when the Turbo was not being imported into the US. The made under 1000 of them and they were single turbo cars with about 330hp, which was 30 more than the standard Euro spec car and 65 more than the last of the US models, the '79. When the Turbo came back in 85, it eventually got close to the same 300 hp as the Euro car. What you mostly saw here in the US were conversions done by companies like DP. The same is true of many mid 80's 911's with the Turbo look body. The factory didn't make very many of those. I seem to recall that when they went to the 964 car in the 90's they made a Turbo S that was kind of a slant nose as kind of a last hurrah before they switched over to the twin turbo 993 car. I seem to recall that it had a few more HP than the stock 315.

I actually did own a `68 stang coupe. Not a Boss 302 as they were not made until 1969.
As far as performance numbers go, the numbers are real. Many magazines did track tests and the cars were stock. A `68 428 cj did high 12`s in the Q mile bone stock. A Mercedes would not come close.
Most muscle cars were geared for the Q, not top end.
Also remember the first thing you did was remove the smog pump, change the cam, slap some headers and cherry bombs and a set of slapper bars with either SS mags or my fav the tourqe thrusts. Put a Holley, manifold, and port match, shave, and polish the heads.
Next was the gears. 2.73 went out for 4.11. or lower.Your speedo would read 90 when you were going 60. You could feel the acceleration, and it sure was fun. Where can you drive these hairy beasts with highway gears and why would you want to.
I got to drive an`88 factory slant nose turbo. The factory cars had the jack tubes on the bottom of the unibody. FUN car.
A co worker has an `11 Evo with 12k in mods and that is without question the most delightful car I have ever driven. Just doesn`t sound right.
A `67-70 vette BB tripower with highway gears was an easy 140+ mph rig.

mmmmmmm...maybe. I had a 300sel 6.3 Mercedes which would eat up corvettes. The ULTIMATE sleeper. 375 REAL German horsepower out of the 600 limo shoe-horned into the smaller 300 body.
The 428 was Fords cheap way out after the 427 got too expensive...they were long lasting relatively short stroke motors. 428 Mustang was strong and torquey, but couldn't get the power to the ground. Surprisingly, McQueens Bulllitt Mustang was a big block car, but a 390. Ah. So there were scant number of them with the 5 speed G50? Not bad. An 89 Turbo Coupe would be my second choice for a car from that era if I couldn't find a Ruf. Funny we should be talking about this because I saw a DP slant nose coupe going down US19 in Clearwater today. I hadn't seen one of those on the road in a while. LMAO...if im honest, it took a while to get used to driving that car. the little dino is a gocart compared to it but of course it is under powered and very different era. The Carrera is more forgiving than i thought but unpredictable in other ways. ive always believed in driving cars not storing them or displaying them, so when we are up there we drive the snot out of all of them. I have about 11000 miles on that GT and it would be a lot more if we were there more often. It turns corners real easy like:)
