I finished the install of the new gen2 and for whatever reason the sonar is picking up 6+ ft sitting in my driveway......? I installed the transducer exactly like the manual calls for. Any ideas why it is showing 6ft? There is about 1 1/2ft below the transducer.

It won't read correctly if it is not in the water.
The sound waves move through the water better than the air.

The sound wave move in the air slower than the water. Therefor, the unit will think the distance is greater because the echo will take more time to retern back, which make the unit think the bottom is deeper.

Speed of sound in water is typically in the range 4.2 - 4.6 times the speed of sound in air so a reading of about 6' in your driveway is spot on.

in other words don't worry about what your sounder reads in your driveway.

Unless your fishing through the street sewer grate at the end of the drive way.
