Too bad they got a mega-douche to portray him.

Kevin Mitnik performed some similar phone pranks, and the FBI eventually put him in jail. :)

My favorite gag is where he has electronic consumer items built by Chinese children, making $1.50/day during 12 hour work days an one day off per week. Then he goes on to sell said item to the public for $500 bucks here in American where we have record numbers on public assistance and welfare.
What a card, indeed!
PS I just bought a pair of $120 New Balance running shoes (Made in USA!!) instead of some sweatshop generated shoe, so I don't need a lecture on how it can't be produced here. It's all about greed.

reading the book also. it is beyond amazing how those guys were all together in small garages changing the world. steve wozmiak was giving out the early diagrams of the computer free to anyone who wanted them. he also wanted to sell the computers at cost.

I was about to say the same thing, but I guess that wouldn't make for a good book.

He might have been and maybe that is why he pulled the pranks he did. ;? That does not take away the coolness of his pranks.
Ahole or not, he pulled off some cool pranks and was a genius who made computing what it is today.

Completely agree, and I am ALL for a good prank. It's just that I have heard from several folks who knew some folks, (you know how this goes) ;?, that actually did business with him. That he was not a nice person, and he was a real bastard in all business dealings he or his company had.
Would really like to hear from someone who had lock-tight solid evidence as to his personality.

Well this was long before Jobs made any money, so that might be the difference, but I met him back in the mid 1970's. I rented a booth at the Philadelphia Boat Show, to sell some marine electronics, CB radios, and a video "game" called Pong. Pretty primitive game BTW, but I sold a lot of them.
Anyways, Jobs had the booth across from me, and he was promoting his little Apple computer, which was nothing more than a little pc board with chips and software on it, and hooked up to a video screen. I chatted with him for a while, as things were often slow, and he was a pretty neat guy, as far as our conversations went that week. In fact, I kinda felt sorry for him, as I sold more stuff than he did, and I don't know for sure, but I don't think he got any investors. Geeeeshhh.... if only.........!
Never gave it a second thought until it was many years later, and STILL I didn't think Apple would survive. Missed that one buy a mile, or 10

That's awesome! I love hearing little tidbits like this. Much respect for Steve for still pushing through after not selling as much at his booth. If only you partnered with him somehow...lol :)

from reading his book, you can see that he was a very complicated person. part genius, part narcissist, party hurt child abandoned by his parents, part rude, . . .

I am starting to wonder why these tech folks have such a hard on for electronic devices that essentially allow a human to get by without ever interacting with another human. Talk to Siri, don't interact with a human being.
I think it is because they were such nerds and social outcasts that they developed all this shit so they could function better in the world without ever having to be social. He seems really sad to me actually.
