We have had Dunkin Doughnuts in our town for years but not Krispy Kreme, you can buy those on the stores but have to go to next larger town over to get them HOT and fresh and nothing better to me
Well GC told me today they are building a KK in our town, just what I need since I been trying to eat better:mad::mad::mad::grin::grin:, and talking with my secretary about it and she said she did not really care for KK but (she is from NY) where she is from Dunkin is the doughnut of choice.
Both are pretty damn good even though I do not eat a lot of them but honestly prefer KK hands down not sure if they are better or just not as available as DD
Any preferences

I personally like the denser DK donuts better as well. Plus the coffee at DK just makes the donuts taste all that much better. However, I'm originally from NJ and think the DK's up north are much better. I think down here in NC they just aren't as popular so the donuts tend to sit out and not be so fresh, and the coffee is not as fresh.

KKD had issues not long after their IPO and a lot of investors got burnt. It will probably be a while before it will regain investor confidence.

DD over KK anyday but KK is OK.
I'm really trying to eat better and I very rarely drink coffee. I was bought a DD coffee by a sub a few weeks ago and it was tasty. DD has some pretty good go nutz.

DD coffee is the BOMB! DD donuts are good and I like them better than KK but I think that's a matter of opinion and taste. Of course, I'm from Massachusetts which is where DD is from. Heck, I've had coffee and donuts at the original DD store in Quincy, MA. Check out the link:

Years back there was a long coffee thread and it made me constantly think about having a donut (or two) so the same question was proposed.
Lets see if anyone changed their minds.
For me, Dunkin all the way.

Gotta go with KK. I'll give DD the better coffee but that's it. (Yea, KK cooked thier books a few years back, but they cook sugar and fat pretty good too.)
Most importantly, my dad taught me to fish and use a boat, and we always stopped at KK at 5:30 a.m. on the way to the lake...so KK it is.
And my kids like Tim Horton's doughnuts in Canada as that's where they have memories.

Tried a TH in Newport Maine. Lots of Canada folk and Harleys are always there when I go by. It was 5AM and I was fogged in but I recall not taking a liking to the place.

I used to manage a few DD stores and if you asked I could tell you when the baker got them done and for my better customers I'd box up their favorit dozen as soon as they were cool enough to top/fill. Any fresh product is the bomb! DD is a bit bigger then KK and much depends on which you grew up on, The problem with DD these days is they have central kitchens and they truck the product in twice a day. Still fresh but not right out of the fryer fresh.

I use to eat KK most of the time until Dunkin' started opening places left and right around here.
Now I like Dunkin' better ("doughier" and not so sickening sweet), but will eat both as well as the great Dunkin' coffee.
The "trade-off" is that if I only eat 6 or so Dunkins', I'd have to eat 12 KK's to fill the same volume in the tummy.
^^^ These are "MQPS"'s (Minimum Quantities Per Sitting) for me when it comes to doughnuts! :o:thumbsup:

I am in the KK for the doughnuts and DD for the coffee camp. Where I grew up (Roanoke VA), there was one KK and several small DD's. DD at that time made their doughnuts at the store and I still preferred KK's.
My only real gripe against DD is "Why is the coffee so freaking hot???" I swear you can sterilize your mouth with that stuff. I have to pull the lid off and let it sit for a little while before I can drink it.

Coming from NC, birthplace of Krispy Kreme, I agree with above statement. KK donuts are almost all air. Dunkin has a much better variety and their donuts are more substantial. And there's nothing like a DD Boston Creme.

University students continue the newest tradition at NC State
RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State University has announced the 8th Annual Krispy Kreme Challenge, which will be held Saturday, February 4th. The Krispy Kreme Challenge is a student-organized charity race benefiting the NC Children’s hospital. Starting as a competition between a few friends, it has grown to include over 7500 runners and raise $122,000 for the N.C. Children’s Hospital in 2011.
To complete the Krispy Kreme Challenge competitors begin at the NC State Belltower, run 2.5 miles to the Krispy Kreme store on Peace Street, eat 1 dozen doughnuts, and run 2.5 miles back to the Belltower-all in under an hour. Participants can also sign up as Casual Runners, who are not required to eat all of the doughnuts, or Supporters, who do not run in the race but do receive a race T-shirt.
The organizers of the 2012 Krispy Kreme Challenge expect to reach a capacity of 7,700 runners for this year’s race. Go online to www.krispykremechallenge.com (http://www.krispykremechallenge.com) to register as a challenger, casual runner, supporter or volunteer now!

Water comes out of the nozzle between 200-206 (F), you get the most flavor from the bean that way.
