Had Garmin 162 & Ratheon L365 fishfinder on an 18' Parker. The GPS was stolen over the winter so I've gotten a Garmin 540S to replace both. (The fishfinder screen is all but shot). Is it possible to use the same transducer from the Ratheon to the Garmin or will I have to get a new transducer as well? I have no idea what the transducer is...it's a transom mount, though.
If I have to get a new one, I'm thinking of a P66 (transom mount) or B60 (through hull). Any comments/advise on which way to go? Thanks; JEW

The B60 costs a bit more but will be working in cleaner water and is also of a bit higher build quality.
But there are a ton of P66's out there that give great service.
Is it possible to use the existing transducer?

Not a good option.
It is not a direct plug change..different wiring and internal grounding etc.

I've been using an L365 transducer (b744 airmar) on my garmin 440s for about 4 years. Until the 440s took a dump. It was flush mounted and also used for fuel flow, so now I'm kind of at a loss of what to do. But anyway...
It will work for the transducer portion, but temp will not work due to the way the transducer is wired internally. Airmar has the wiring diagrams.
If you remove the current transducer, I could really use the connector end....would make re-connecting my 'ol l365 easier ;-) ( I lost the connectors for the L365, power and xducer)
