I am new to Raymarine products and while out fishing my C120 FF acting up. The best way to describe it is that it would start to mark bait, then just cut out. See how on the picture there is a distinct cutoff line. I tried doing a DSM reset and that didn't seem to help. It did function ok at other times throughout the day but not sure what was going on. Any ideas?

Could the transducer be going out?

Not sure if this is the problem or not but if you are backing up over the mark the ducer will quit reading. Usually for a longer period than what is being shown here.

No, We were continually trolling at the time. I have heard that low voltage can maybe do this?

Does this only happen when going over huge bait balls? Also try running your unit in manual mode as when going thru large bait balls will confuse the depthfinder in auto mode as the range is constantly shifting trying to locate the bottom. It also looks like you are using downriggers as they are showing up on the 50kHz due to the wider beam angle.

ddhame,

I have a C120 and it did the same thing last year. Luckily, I had a technician on the boat at the time and he fixed right away. He stated that he sees this alot on Raymarine products. Try removing the power connection at the back of the unit. For some reason it loses its contact after a while and removing it several times and plugging it back in helped mine. The problem went away and has not returned. I am not knocking Raymarine, as I like my C120 and have had no other problems with it in five years.

If that doesn't solve your problem then try removing the other connections to make sure they are good.

Hope this helps,

Dotta B
