Can you take two NMEA 2000 cables and link them together to make one long one? Can you go end to end or do you need an adapter in between?

The cables are male/female, you can connect them together for a longer run without issue.

You can do it, but you need to observe the continuity and maintain it between wires. If one wire has both (+) and (-) in it, ie: (-) shielding the same wires needs to be hooked up! If one has no (-) shielding and the other does, the (-) needs to be hooked to the boat (-)!

NMEA2000 = red, black, white and blue wires. Raymarine throws in a yellow for some reason.

There are some online documents you can search for that will tell you what the max run length is. I think it's something like 60 feet but can't remember off hand.

Now Im confused. I guess I should have mentioned its Garmin NMEA2000 cables. I dont have them in front of me, but isnt there only one way to hook them up because they have male/female plugs on them? Not bare wires...?

Thanks again!

Oh and it would be hooking two 2meter cables end to end, so I dont think distance will be a factor.

It's going to work fine. The cable is not to long.

Ah yes, I thought you were going to splice the wires for some reason. ;cool;
