Hi All-
I'm restringing my spinners and need some advice as to which kind of braid I should get. I used to use firewire, but it was really rough and didn't last too long. I restrung with diamond braid and I LOVED it. It was really soft and casted great. Now, after looking at some different manufacturers, I'm conflicted between the new Sufix 832, the Power Pro Super 8, and the Spiderwire. I'm looking for something really soft, and long lasting- I don't mind paying for the right thing... What are your recommendations?
Thanks!

I am new to the "Braid Craze", but, have recently put the green Power Pro on 2 rods I use offshore for jigging for snapper, grouper, etc and really like it. Not made the switch to my inshore stuff yet. Good luck.

Daiwa boat braid. Easy casting and has the depth markings.

Stick with the Momoi Diamond Braid. It is one of the best products available.

I have more recent experience with JB 60 hollow, Izorline 80, Suffix 30 and 50, diawa samarai braid in 50 and have used momoi hollow 80. My least favorite was the momoi. I thought it seemed bulky but only took a few casts with it. The jb hollow and the izorline are somewhat of a push. I like splicing loops in the hollow but personally think the izorline casts a little better.
I use the suffix for my lighter outfits and have zero complaints.
The thinnest line and among my favorites was probably the daiwa braid, but I only used it for a while fishing albies. Not sure of long term how I would like it, but it casted very nice and seemed super thin.
This is all on spinning by the way. Have used a larger variety on conventionals.

I'd consider these three if you want a soft casting braid. I use both the Daiwa and Fins currently. I like the Fins in the lower tests, 10 lb thru 30 lb and the Daiwa in the higher tests 40 lb & 55 lb.
Daiwa Samurai Braid - Samurai line is unlike any other braided line on the market. Sure it's strong and sensitive, but it's also noticeably thinner, softer, smoother and more flexible than ordinary braids. That means less friction for better casts; reduced line noise on the retrieve; and a faster sink rate due to less current resistance.
Fins XS Extra Smooth - FINS Extra Smooth is constructed using 8 ends of Spectra yarn instead of the usual 4. The resulting braid structure is naturally rounder and smoother but costlier to produce. FINS ES is the longest casting braid on the market.
Power Pro Super Slick Spectra Braid - Super-Slick is 8 yarn Spectra fiber construction for anglers who demand high performance. PowerPro "EBT" (Enhanced Body Technology) process creates a stronger, thinner, smoother and quieter line.

Jerry Brown Line One Spectra is the best line that i have ever used. Used PP, Daiwa, Fireline, Spiderwire, etc. All the others worked well but just didn't last nearly as long as my JB. Plus there a great company.

Thanks for all the recommendations! I finally pulled the trigger on about 2000 yds of power pro super slick. It feels really good, but I'll update all of you as the wax wears off- hopefully it'll be up against some big fish this year!!!

You may want to check out Western Filament's TufLine. They make a variety of solid and hollow braids and make a huge amount of braid sold by other brands.
Excellent pricing.

Ive been looking at braids for a saragoosa 18000 I plan on purchasing, looks difficult to get the braid in the correct lengths to properly spool the reel, found lots of 150 and 300 yard spools, I expect I could put more than that on the reel. Looks like a splicing situation?

Most braid manufacturers offer a bulk spool - 1000-3000 yards. Be prepared for sticker shock.
Better yet to have a good tackle shop spool it from their bulk spool - they can pack it on with the tension needed to prevent the braid from digging in onitself.

Yeah the sticker shock thing is too much. I had about decided to get the reel from Melton and ask them to spool it after spending a lot of time trying to find what I wanted in the right amt and not really getting there.

Order the reel from wherever and have it shipped directly to Basil Papas. He can put whatever on it you want. then ship it to you. I do not generally trust the average shop in putting the line on correctly.
While Melton's has nice stuff and an attractive catalog, they are certainly not known for any type of discount pricing.

Thanks for the input but I have already done it. They are spooling the reel with 80# blue spectra, adding a 100# mono topshot for $40.

What about a 500 yard spool?
