Eventually I will be installing a Lewmar pro-fish. I got some pics (please excuse the mess! dam trees are killing me) could i mount it to the the lid with a backing plate through bolted? any ideas would be welcomed!

You can i did mine on a 35 foot boat but you have to use starboard on back and you need to hinge it on the back not the side like it is . What size is the boat ?? Never had a problem and have had raft ups with 8 boats on it and im only hinged on the back the front i can flip it open at all times when theres no tension on it .I with i had a pic to show you , i cant even take one its going to rain the next copal of days hear .

Thanks, thats what i was thinking. Put a stainless hing on the back and I was going to use a aluminum plate for backing.

I put mine where your cleat is.The line still falls into the locker and you can get at it if it tangles going out. Easy to add cleats on each side if you use that one.

You can use aluminum but a thick starboard will not oxidize at all . Capt.-Tom D. had a good idea to if there is room and it still falls into the rope locker .

I did mine sort of like you are thinking, I used a existing hole for a older windless and it is forward like where your cleat is. My only problem is the chain piles up when bringing it in, I plan on adding a slide type device in the locker so the chain slides all the way down. I have 45 feet of chain, so you may not have this problem if you have less chain.
