Before I replaced my Northstar 6000i with an NSE 12, one of the things I particularly liked about the Northstar was that when I dropped anchor, I would know when the boat had "settled in" because as it would rock, the little boat icon would shift left-right-left. I got so that I could tell if the wind or tide were changing by looking at the amount of time the boat would stay in the left or right attitude as it started in it's treck in one direction or the other. (I hope I'm explaining my self well here).
Now with the NSE 12 and antenna, I don't seem to get that. The boat just settles in and there's no left-right-left as the boat rocks in place. I can't readily tell if I am settled in so I have to wait a while before dropping lines.
This is really an excellent way to tell thatthe boat has settled in, but now, I don't seem to have it anymore. Is it a setting I have missed?

Is there a menu item for GPS position sampling as there often is for speed averaging? If so, setting for minimum ( 1 or 2 secs ) might retreive the icon jitter you seek.
Edit: P. 54 of the NSE Installation Manual shows menu choices for Damping / heading. I'm guessing minimizing that will likely move your icon as before.

You're not anchoring correctly if you have to know with the GPS... :)

Thanks for the advise. I'll give that a try. If you have an NSE 12 check out my newest post.
