On the boat now and was hooking up raystar 125 antenna to my c90w using nmea. Took advice from the forum and hooked up 125 red to power, 125 brown green and shield to ground, and 125 yellow to c90w orange/white. Went to power up and the c90w stays off. Couldn't get to the antenna to see if on but promptly disconnected all and tried to power bare c90w with no luck. Checked fuses, reconnected, etc and it seems dead. Is it really that finicky? Did I blow it somehow just using a simple nmea hookup? It has power from the bus but won't crank up

The wire layout you mention above is for Seatalk, not NEMA.

No, he's right. Seatalk would be red and green together.
I would disconnect the antenna at the base and see if your display turns on.

Disconnected the antenna right after the first failed power up. Tried different fuses (even though they werent blown) and different connections to +/- for the MFD and still no luck.

May be an excuse to upgrade to the c95
