Anyone have any reports out of the Hold Beach Area? Planning on giving them a shot Friday and Saturday. Plan to hit the 90s, christinas, and possibly sharkhole and/or the jungle.

yeah we ran to lighthouse rocks, AR420, and yaupon. 10 or so sharks at the rocks.1 nice king and 4 or 5 others lost including a 35+ that skied and broke the wire leader on the longline, 1 big spanish and blue at 420. Just sharks at yaupon, but apparently someone else at yaupon caught 10 kings and lost 8 others today

Okay. Newbie to outside the jetties here. I have a maps unique gps map for murrells up to south port. I've heard alot About the 90's and Christina. Where are those located? They are not labeled on my map. I don't usually venture past the 2 mile reef out of LR but I planning on a 23-25' boat I. The real near future so I'm researching and getting equipment.

Any help on ANYTHING would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

If anyone has some numbers of spots they don't mind sharing my family would be thankful. Especially my little boy.

I would also like some advice on where to go to do some decent bottom fishing within 15 or do mile for the wife and kid!

Gonna have to go further than 15 miles to get to decent bottom fishing. Black sea bass will be in closer but usually smaller ones in the summer months. 90's will be listed as 390/390 on a map. Approx 10 miles ne of lr jetties. Christinas ledge is about 4-5 ne of 90's. 18-20mile range is where kings traditionally hang out during the summer.

Thanks, for the info. Would the grouper fishing be at say the jungle or would I have to be even farther out than that. On a good would you venture that far out with say a 23' sea hunt single motor?

Try ProFinder Charts from the Ocean Isle Fishing Center it gives you the local names of the spots you are looking for on the map then cross ref.

Get comfortable with what you are doing, make sure you have a decent radio and keep the boat in good working order. Pick your days, I take my 22 seahunt to the stream routinely just make sure you have an EPIRB if more than 20 out, and buddy boat as much as possible.

I had a 23' Sea Hunt for two years prior to getting my Contender, and you should be just fine fishing offshore in it. Dont get me wrong, you need to watch the weather and insure you keep your boat in top condition, but you should have no problem. If it makes you feel better, wendell / empty pockets has a 24' Sea Hunt, and you see what he post on here.

Intel, I've been to the tower in 21 foot Hydra Sport. Pick your days, have all safety equipment, and have a boat buddy.

On a good weather day you will see almost any type boat, out as far as its capt. is willing to take it. Just remember to ALWAYS watch the weather, keep your boat in tip top shape, and have all of your safety gear and then some. It never hurts to ask for a buddy boat. I have personally been a buddy boat for many guys on THT, and they have done the same for me. We all have that natural instinct to catch fish when no on elese can,and have that honey hole to ouself, but nobody wants to see a fellow fisherman not come back to the dock. Hell, give me a call and I will buddy up with you.

Pogies have been around the little river jetty area. Been watching them from the beach in the mornings. I'd say they are around the 20-30 foot of water area. Heard that there were some offshore of ocean isle and holden recently. Judging by reef cast after this storm/low/system that is spinning to the south looks like later in the week will be fishable. Hope the fish are hungry.

what are your thoughts on the weather for this weekend? I am "hosting" the tht meet and greet up in morehead city and I sure hope it lays out and lets us get offshore. Figures that I would plan something amidst a tropical storm...

Its looking like the wind is going to fall out on wednesday night. Looking like 10 knot or less for as far out as I can get a forecast for which is friday. I would think if anything there will be a residual ground swell from the storm. Shouldn't have much chop with the light wind. Then again who knows what will happen with the weather. Hope it all works out well for you Chris!

Good to know that! Did you start from CB to FPT? and how did it do on GAS (did you bottom fish or troll?), and what do you consider a good weather? I want to try FPT, just worried a little..

we king fish on a 21 foot nautic star regulary out to 20 miles and take my 25 foot wellcraft when venturing farther. As for the 23 foot sea hunt they ride pretty well, and is more than capable to the stream safely, but yeah as said above watch your weather cuz a simple wind shift can make for some snotty seas.

I don't remember how it was on gas... I was on another guys boat and there were three of us. I think we all pitched in 50 bucks or so for gas.

For me, good weather for making a run in a boat that size would be seas 2-3 foot (or less) with a wave period of 8 seconds or more, winds 10 mph or less. Best bet is three days forecast of low winds and pick the middle day.

Made the run this winter to the tower and we had no wind at all, with barely a chop on the water...ran out at 35 mph and back in at 39 mph. This was in a 24 sea hunt like empty pockets runs.
