I'm looking to buy my first boat as I have always been the deckhand and not the captain on fishing trips! Have been doing lots of research for a long time and have narrowed it down to a 2007 sea hunt triton 232 for 28k or a 2008 sea hunt triton 240 for 38k. Both have Yamaha f250 4s with under 300 hrs. Both are in great shape. My question is if the 10k difference is justified for the 240? I'm leaning towards the 232.
Any input would be great!

I think thats extra horse power, a 200 would do the job. I personally dont care for either of the two because of their resale value and they dont have big enoughf scuppers, the two pice hull doesnt allow you rewire the boat that easy or put a new deck in it 10 yrs from now. Yes u can do these things, just not as easy... For the money get a 25ft deep vee and slap a new motor on it.
Thats just my opion, and opions are like asshools, we all got one...

You know what you want, you've done the research and you know what you've got to spend. Pick the one you want.

I spent a lot of time shopping 232 and 240's last year, and I agree that boats of the same vintage and hours will usually be just about 10 grand apart. IMHO 2008 240 triton + F250 + trailer with under 300 hours is priced right at 38. I paid a few grand less for an 07 with known issues that ended up costing me a few grand to fix.
As for whether it's worth it, here is what you get for 10 grand...
700 pounds heavier... that doesn't come just from the length, imho... it comes from the boat being more solidly built.
Better transom design (walk-through door plus big transom livewell and a bench seat, vs. smaller livewell with two jump seats on either side of it on the 232).
Slight (less than 1 full foot) length increase.
Whether that's worth it to you, is entirely up to you.

Oh also standard pocket trim tabs vs optional aftermarket tabs on the transom.

FYI, Sea hunt resales through the roof dude! Try to find ANY deals on them - you wont. I looked FOREVER to get even an OK deal. There is a reason they are the current #1 selling salt water boat...they are in demand. Want proof? Call a Sea Hunt dealer and ask what they have for used ones.Every dealer I speak to says they almost never have/see used ones. And since you don't own one to correct you the scuppers work well, no issue there either. As far as rewiring, never heard of having to on a Sea Hunt but IF you ever wanted to they all are built with wire chase tubes below deck, I ran my Raymarine transducer cable in exactly 3 minutes from stern to console via it. Finally who the hell puts a new deck on a 10 year old boat?? Wow...

x2. I literally just went through what you are and I went with the 08 240. If I could've found a 232 with a 250 I'd have been tempted though. I liked the walkthrough and the transom livewell and the admiral gave me the green light to go bigger, so I did.
Also, there's more flare in the 240. I walked the 2012's side by side at the NE Boat show this year. The interior is alike, but a lot different too, but next to each other, the hulls look nothing alike.
Some other likes of mine about the 240 are
- increased storage in the console (232 front seat is a cooler, 240 is extra console space)
- tow rail for fighting bigger fish
- fold down seat (more deck space) in the back
I got mine for your number.
As for the guy talking about the resale value...um...he's not that accurate. I bought my boat 5 hours after it was listed because literally EVERY other one I looked into sold in less than 2 days...and I looked for 4 months. These boats resell in the blink of an eye....so be mindful of that.
