I have a Garmin 4210 Chartplotter. Unit will shut down after about 5 minutes of use. Sent unit back to Garmin-they said unit was fine...wiring on boat seems in tack....any suggestions....thanking you...Rick

Bad battery or batteries on your boat can do this. Check rear cable connections etc. Battery or connection issue for sure.

Batteries are new. Even installed new alternators on both engines. Garmin checked out unit and says it is fine. We can run with the unit on and sometimes it will stay on for 20 minutes before it completely shuts off. Sometimes it even locks up. Power unit is hooked directly to battery. We have the Garmin transducer, fuel sensors and GMR-24 connected through the NMEA 2000 Starter Kit. Thanking you for your input Rick

I have seen this happen before from a schetchy power plug. Try wiggling the power cord where it ataches to the unit and see if it shuts down.

Thank you for the suggestion...we plug and unplug cord all the time to reset machine. What about the NMEA 2000...could there be a problem with that and the chartplotter?

I don't see how nmea2000 could affect it. Try wiggling the power cable.
